Devlog 05: Second week of production
Intro
We are happy to share that our game is making sweet progress. The game now finally has a proper, albeit a still robust gameplay loop. LanceALot is evolving slowly but steady towards a proper game.
Art
The final designs for most props are coming in and some of the models are already implemented ingame. As you can see in those gameplay gifs, the blockout is bit by bit making place for a greybox. We are still missing some textures though, but those will follow soon. Take a look at the final character model and some of our cool props here:
We also already have designs for some exciting new assets in the works:
Gameplay
Introducing an improved version of the tipper critical hit. Now it has a fun hitlag effect but the conditions have been changed a bit as well. It used to be a hitbox, but to make it more satisfying/harder to hit we changed it to a small raycast out of the tip.

The dash has also been reintroduced after it was shelved for some time. It now functions with our changed movement input system (because we changed the logic of that). The function of the dash is quite different now, it used to be a long lasting speed boost. As you can see, now it more of an impulse short burst.
This week was not without a couple bugs here are 2 pretty funny ones.
Our countdown system acting a bit wonkey (don't worry this has been fixed).
Personally my favorite bug that I've encountered our little player launching into the stratosphere.
Seeing these 2 gifs it's obvious that there's been a change in how the games works in terms of winning and round managing. We were finally able to properly implement a timer before every round where players can't do anything until the timer has expired. This timer gets activated after a player has won as you can see in the last gif. And to top everything off the game can be won! When a certain player reaches the max amount of rounds one has to win he actually wins the game! Not that you can see much of it at the moment. But! The game will reset to the character selection menu so you can start a new game!
